This spring has been a whirlwind of dance, excitement, and unforgettable memories. I had the unique experience of performing in two incredible shows: the Dale Duro Latin Dance Company Spring Show and the Ballet Folklórico Spring Show. Each performance was special in its own way, and together, they made this season one of the most rewarding in my dance journey.
Dale Duro Latin Dance Company Spring Show
My first performance with the Dale Duro Latin Dance Company was nothing short of amazing. Participating in a femme cumbia dance, I performed vibrant songs like “Mi Ex Tenia Razon” by Karol G and “Bandido” by Ana Barbara. These songs brought out the energy and passion of Latin dance, and our choreography perfectly captured the spirit of cumbia.
Dressed in a full pink outfit with a matching pink cowboy hat, I felt both stylish and confident on stage. The outfit added a fun twist to our routine, making the performance visually striking. The audience’s reaction was incredible—both days of the show were sold out, and the crowd’s enthusiasm was infectious. Cheering for my fellow dancers and watching their performances was just as thrilling as being on stage myself. The sense of community and support within the company made this experience truly special.
Ballet Folklórico Spring Show
This spring also marked my third show with the Ballet Folklórico, a performance that was particularly significant because I was the president in charge of the entire event. Being responsible for organizing and overseeing the show added a layer of responsibility that was both challenging and fulfilling.
I performed in three different dances, each showcasing the rich cultural heritage of folklórico. What made this show even more meaningful was that I taught all the dances. Seeing my choreography brought to life by my fellow dancers was incredibly rewarding. Despite the stress and logistical challenges of managing the event, the outcome was worth every effort.
Our show featured guest performances from Mariachi Northwestern and Dale Duro, adding a delightful variety to the program. The lively music and talented performances from our guests complimented our own dances beautifully. Our MCs did a fantastic job, infusing the event with humor and keeping the audience engaged and entertained.
The support from our community, the laughter, and the shared moments of joy made this show unforgettable. As I watched the performances unfold, I felt a deep sense of pride and accomplishment. Leading such a talented group and seeing our hard work pay off was one of the most gratifying experiences of my dance career.
Reflecting on a Season of Dance
Both the Dale Duro and Ballet Folklórico spring shows have left an indelible mark on me. The experiences were different yet equally enriching. Performing with Dale Duro introduced me to a new style and a vibrant community, while leading and dancing with Ballet Folklórico allowed me to deepen my connection to my cultural roots and take on new leadership responsibilities.
As I reflect on this spring, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunities to dance, teach, and lead. These experiences have not only honed my skills but also strengthened my love for dance and my appreciation for the incredible communities I am part of. I look forward to many more performances, challenges, and triumphs in the future. This season of dance has truly been a highlight of my journey, and I am excited for what lies ahead.
